Douglas County Economic Indicators - October 2022
The October 2022 Douglas County Economic Indicators are out now and also available at this Quality Info link.
Douglas County employment grew by 2%, or 580 jobs, from September 2021 to September 2022. The county remains 750 jobs below the number in February of 2020 on a seasonally adjusted basis. Unemployment ticked up to 4.7% from 4.5% last month, although it remains 0.6 percentage points lower than this time last year.
Businesses are struggling to recruit and retain workers in this tight labor market, so the graph of the month for October focuses on some long-term turnover trends.
Turnover increased significantly in 2021, but it had already been rising for more than a decade since lows in the Great Recession. Turnover is particularly high for the smallest companies, although overall quarterly turnover was lower than the levels seen in the early 1990s.
