South Coast Economy
Businesses subtracted 300 jobs in Coos County and 260 jobs in Curry County over the year in July. Government grew the most in Coos County, adding 130 jobs. The private education and health services sector added 60 jobs in Curry County. Professional and business services witnessed the greatest job contraction in Coos County, declining by 470 jobs. Trade, transportation, and utilities saw a reduction of 170 jobs in Curry County. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is currently 4.7% in Coos and 5.4% in Curry.

Special Topic: 2022 Census of Agriculture Sales
This month’s special topic highlights agriculture sales at the county level from the USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture Report. Coos County’s cattle and calves generated 63.71% of all livestock sales in 2022. In Curry County, 86.7% of crop sales were attributed to fruits, tree nuts, and berries.
