South Coast Economy

 

Total nonfarm employment grew by 330 jobs in Coos County to 23,430. The government sector saw the greatest employment gains over the year with 180 jobs. Trade, transportation, and utilities experienced the greatest employment losses with 160 jobs. Total nonfarm employment grew by 10 jobs in Curry County to 6,540. In Curry County the government sector added 50 jobs over the year while seeing employment losses of 100 jobs in the trade, transportation, and utilities industry.

Special Topic: Holiday Retail Employment

The special topic this month analyzes retail employment at its peak in December. This past December retail employment decreased in Coos County by 140 jobs compared to December 2023, a modest loss. In December 2024 the retail sector accounted for 12.2% of all nonfarm employment.

 

This past December retail employment decreased by 80 jobs in Curry County compared to December 2023, a modest loss. In December 2024 the retail sector accounted for 14.5% of all nonfarm employment.
