South Coast Economy
Businesses lost 320 jobs in Coos County and 280 jobs in Curry County over the year in August. The government sector grew the most in both counties, adding 200 and 40 jobs respectively. Professional and business services witnessed the greatest job contraction in Coos County, declining by 460 jobs. Trade, transportation, and utilities saw a reduction of 140 jobs in Curry County. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is currently 4.7% in Coos and 5.3% in Curry.

Special Topic: County Migration 2021-2022
This month’s special topic highlights county level migration data available from the Internal Revenue Service. Coos and Curry counties traded around 160 individuals between one another with Coos County experiencing a net population gain from Curry County. Coos County saw a net loss in population to Lane County. Curry County gained population from Lane and Deschutes counties.
